Plot
The film follows the titular superhero as he struggles to reconcile his legacy with his human upbringing. He is the embodiment of truth, justice, and the American way in an old-fashioned world. James Gunn tweeted that his father’s death influenced the script. The film’s release date was July 11, 2025, his father’s birthday. When James Gunn originally completed the first draft of the script, he titled the film Superman: Legacy. By the time he locked down the final draft, it was clear to him that the title was SUPERMAN.
